In the Heart of Beauty This small, close-knit community at the base of the Adirondack Mountain region has a population of around 4,000, and all of the friendliness and advantages one would expect from a small town. Lowville’s downtown business district is less than a mile from Brookside and the surrounding views, in almost every direction, are open fields and dairy farms. The local county hospital provides extensive medical services, many churches are just a short drive and transportation is available by Brookside for those residents who do not drive. If you do take a drive, delight yourself with the spectacular view of Maple Ridge Wind Farm that is just minutes from Brookside. Brookside, by design, is a community where people find purpose in their later years. The services and amenities provided or available enable residents of this community to live as independently as possible. Plus there are numerous opportunities and choices. Whether one prefers a more solitary lifestyle or an active lifestyle, Brookside is well suited to both. |

Fourteen years of living at Brookside has given us release of many previous responsibilities. Snow removal, lawn care and building maintenance are no longer on our work list. However, vegetable gardening, a part of our past since childhood, is still an option. A plot of soil, fully prepared is assigned to us and the joy of planting, tending and harvesting can still be ours. At this stage in life we are thankful to Brookside for providing a home, friendship, activities and a high level of security in a Christian atmosphere comparable to our needs. -Ellen and Arlene Yousey |
